It is our pleasure to introduce our newest addition to the SRPGA Coaching Team at Meadow Gardens Golf Club, Leila Harman! Leila Harman (Chartrand) started her golfing career at the age of 11. By the age of 12 she had qualified for World Junior Golf Championship in Japan alongside her brother, Daniel age 14. After a promising junior career including three Junior Provincial Titles Leila accepted a full scholarship to the University of Southern California. In her four years at USC she captained the 4th ranked team, was ranked individually as high as 5th in the NCAA and completed her Sociology degree. After University Leila attempted playing part time with a back injury. Although unable to compete to her fullest potential she won a West Coast Tour event in Phoenix, a Canadian Women's tour event in Victoria, and competed in two LPGA Canadian Opens. Eventually Leila decided to focus on teaching and started working with Brent Morrison in Qualicum Beach. For the past 8 years Leila has been a full time instructor at the McCleery Golf Academy. She married Quinn Harman 5 years ago and is the proud mother of two children, Jack 4 and Grace 2. At the age of 36 Leila has been a CPGA instructor for 12 years. We look forward to Leila contributing great insight and coaching as part of the team, starting with one day per week and adding to this as the season gets going. Thursday April 7th will mark her first full day of coaching...welcome Leila!
